moonlit
there is something about
the way the moon loves the ocean,
that spills the ocean
forth from me.
slipping from my eyes
and dripping poems
from my fingertips.
boundless love — infinite beauty
and oh -
in the depths of night,
i dream with her.
the ocean, that is.
she dreams with me too.
together, held
in a landless expanse -
a globe of water
in every direction
and below,
dark down.
dreams arise
in our togetherness
dreams of beaconing
whales and beings
of the beyond,
with sonar
and light webs.
ripples sparkling the
unseen world
from core to core.
dreams of fearlessness
and oh! a - fierce - playfulness
with the wild creatures
of the deep hidden world.
the unanswerable question
her waters
dare ask of my soul,
i admit,
i find
both romantic
and utterly savage.
bewitched and tempted now,
i gaze upon
the slick moon’s path.
the brave one,
who is charmed enough to
ride across her untamed surface
straight to the end of the world.
